Delhi Technological University (DTU) has inaugurated the Yogi Goswami Clean Energy Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to advancing renewable energy research, sustainable technologies, and energy storage solutions.
Envisioned as an innovation hub, the laboratory will act as a vital bridge between academia, industry, and society, accelerating India’s transition towards its net-zero emission target by 2070, DTU officials said.

A Hub for Research, Startups, and Innovation
The clean energy lab has been set up under DTU’s Nodal Centre of Excellence in Energy Transition (NCEET), with major contributions from Professor Yogi Goswami, a distinguished alumnus of DTU’s 1969 batch.
“The facility will promote advanced research, nurture startups, and encourage student-driven innovations to reduce reliance on fossil fuels,” a DTU spokesperson highlighted.
Milestone in India’s Clean Energy Journey
The lab was inaugurated by Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, who described it as a “milestone in India’s clean energy journey and a symbol of the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.”
He added, “Clean energy is not tomorrow’s dream, it is today’s responsibility. With DTU’s innovation, Delhi will emerge as a benchmark for sustainable and future-ready governance.”
India’s Progress Towards Renewable Goals
Sood also noted India’s significant progress in renewable adoption:
50% clean energy target for 2030 achieved in 2025, five years early
In June 2025, clean sources accounted for 31% of national electricity generation
India’s non-fossil fuel capacity reached 224.8 GW, including 117 GW from solar and 51.7 GW from wind
The minister also visited the DTU Innovation & Incubation Foundation, assuring continued government support for student entrepreneurs and green technology startups.
A Step Towards a Greener Future
Officials emphasized that the new clean energy laboratory will not only strengthen research but also inspire students and entrepreneurs to pioneer solutions for India’s sustainable future.
